WAYS TO SERVE

Many people of our church family are needed to participate on these committees. For all those who have answered the call, we say Thank You for the time and effort you gave on behalf of the church. In return, we hope you received a sense of joy and fellowship in working together with others of our church family.

Perhaps you may have an interest in one or more of the First Church committees:

  • Christian Education Committee: Responsible for the growing Sunday School made up now of 3 classes and nursery. Twenty-four are registered but our regular attendance of 14 can swell to 30! Two Adult Education classes taught by Pastor Derse were offered. Monthly hikes around the White Mountains are conducted in addition to the annual Christmas Family night, a gathering of the whole church family for fellowship and to create decorations and decorate the church Christmas tree. We are blessed with a growing nursery and as always send appeals for help in covereage.If you’d like to be part of these activities, contact Chairperson Helen Goss.

     

  • Fundraising Food Committee is responsible for two important fundraising functions; the baking and selling of blueberry crisp at the Fryeburg Fair and the Miler’s dinner. The begins every year at the end of September and continues generally through the first week of October. Extra hands are always appreciated. The Miler’s dinner is usually held within three weeks of the fair. If you’d like to help, contact the Co-Chairpersons, Ron Kratt or Richard Goss.

     

  • Historical Committee files and refines the records, i.e. marriages, baptisms, deaths, and new members. For more information contact Chairperson, Glenna Tibbetts.

     

  • Memorial Garden Committee: The The Memorial Garden continues to fill in and grow as shown by the reaching plants over the trellises. This committee oversees the planting and care of the garden and is always in need of help weeding and trimming. If you’re available, contact Co-Chairpersons Lisa Wilkins or Carol Lyman.

     

  • Mission Committee: This committee is responsible for collecting itmes from the congregation to make emergency kits for use by Church World Service here in the US and around the world.  The are also helping to build a school in Sierra Leone, Africa and collecting stamps to aid a rehabilation hospital in India.  Presently they are attempting to organize “Helping Hands” within our own congregation so that we can more easily help each other.  Contact Chairperson Tracy Strout

     

  • Music Committee meets reqgularly, discussing and seeing to the musical needs of the church. If you are interested contact Co-Chairpersons Muriel Magg or Bilo Bell.

     

  • Pastor-Parish Relations: Regular quarterly meetings are planned by this committee in addition to special meetings that may be required. The role of this committee is to address concerns of the Pastor as well as the congregation. Comments or concerns from the congregation are welcomed. Contact Chairperson Trina Jones.

     

  • Stewardship Committee: This committee is responsible to educates the whole church in the idea of stewardship throughout the year.  This means being good stewards and trustees of all the gifts God has given us including our money, our time, and our talent.  They help to co-ordinate our annual fund drive and also they are resources for information about end-of-life gifts to the church as well as information about Capital Fund Drives.
